Regular hand washing with liquid soap is essential for maintaining personal hygiene and preventing the spread of bacteria and disease. Be sure to wash your hands before and after eating, after using the toilet and after contact with contaminated surfaces.
To use liquid soap correctly, follow these steps:
Open the tap and let the water run while it is warm. Wet your hands thoroughly with water.
Pour a sufficient amount of liquid soap into your palms. The right amount will vary depending on the size of your hands and how dirty they are. Make sure you have enough soap to effectively clean all surfaces of your hands.
Scrub your hands together to create a rich lather. Be sure to cover all surfaces of the hands, including fingers, palms and back of hands. Rub the hands for at least 20 seconds to ensure effective cleaning. Be sure to touch all areas, including the spaces between fingers and under fingernails.
Then rinse your hands under lukewarm running water, removing soap and suds completely. Carefully rinse all surfaces of the hands, making sure no soap residue remains.
Use a clean towel to gently pat your hands dry or a hand dryer. Make sure you dry thoroughly and that the towel or hand dryer is clean to prevent the spread of bacteria.
